Folding liners

A brushed organic cotton liner and/or an organic cotton muslin liner may be added into the organic cotton knitted tie nappy for greater absorbency.

We started doing this with our daughter at around 10 weeks. Before that she was too small and as she was having her nappy changed very frequently, the tie nappy alone was suitably absorbent.

We began by adding in a brushed cotton liner at night time, when she started sleeping for longer stretches. Gradually we began to add one in in the day time also. Currently we are still doing this, and at night we now boost absorbency further by using a brushed cotton liner plus a muslin liner. It will depend on your baby and your preference what liners you use in what combinations and when.

There are a number of ways to fold large liners/muslins, but for simplicity and based on what we do, what follows are some easy ways to fold the Disana liners into a strip. They are then placed down the middle of the laid out tie nappy, before it goes onto baby.

Or a slimmer option is to fold into 4, rather than thirds…

The fastener shown here is a Nappy Nippa, but you could also use a more traditional safety pin.
